Lancashire County Council is teaming up with district coun- cilstotackleSinglePerson


Council Tax Discount fraud. The aim is to look at homes which claim to be occupied by just one person - and are - therefore eligible for a 25% Council Tax discount - to check whether that single oc­ cupancy is still the case and that the discount is still appli­ cable. The discount is typically worth around £250 each year. .Using-the latest, data-"


matching technology, the . project will involve the county council working with afinan- cialservices company to check the council’s information with a wide range of financial and other personal information. Councils will be able to use


this information as part of fur­ ther investigations to see if any fraud is taking place. The process will also help
