The aim is to look at homes which claim to be occupied by just one person - and are - therefore eligible for a 25% Council Tax discount - to check whether that single oc cupancy is still the case and that the discount is still appli cable. The discount is typically worth around £250 each year. .Using-the latest, data-"
matching technology, the . project will involve the county council working with afinan- cialservices company to check the council’s information with a wide range of financial and other personal information. Councils will be able to use
this information as part of fur ther investigations to see if any fraud is taking place. The process will also help
