Tributes to accident victim Stuart (90)
Tributes have been paid to 90-year-old Stuart Beal who died after being involved in
: a collision with a car outside Clitheroe Health Centre.

, Clitheroe with his wife,Pat, a year ago to be nearer to their son and family.
They had been married for
61 years and had a son, daugh ter and five granddaughters. At 90, Stuart had lived a
full and very interesting life. He had travelled widely when in the Merchant Navy during the war, surviving a torpedo attack. His family say he was an
avid reader with a sharp, log ical mind and had a philo sophical and often humorous perspective on life. He was senior partner in a successful civil and structural engineer ing company until his retire ment in 1988 and was adept with all modern technology - computing, phone and even Facebook.

during love of geology and the mountains, being a keen climberwhenyounger.Hewas very involved with the Ruck-, sack Climbing Club and the Manchester University Moun taineering Club. He had also been involved with the Scout movement. Mr Beal will be missed
greatly by his family and friends. He was loved by all for
his insight, wit, and generosity and his love of a challenging discussion. His family are comforted by the fact that he died peace
fully in his sleep and that he was independent and in good form to the end.
