Controversial plan for new homes set to go before council

A controversial planning application for new homes in Sabden will be discussed by council chiefs tonight.

Members of Ribble Valley Borough Council’s planning committee will consider an outline application for a residential development of 14 houses and three bunga lows plus a new access road on land to the rear of Pendle

Sabden have vowed to fight the application, which has been submitted by P & D Developments,’andapetition signed by 600 people was submitted to the council on Monday by local councillor Richard Newmark. The Love Sabden Group,

an action group formed to fight housing applications in Sahden, claim the proposed development will not only lead to traffic chaos, but will ruin the village. They also say the scheme

Objections have also been raised about the close prox

imity of the proposed houses to existing properties. In addition, concerns

resulting in potential flood ing.

However, highways offic

ers from Lancashire County Council have raised no objec tions to the application. O f f ic e r s are recom

mending that a decision on the application be deferred and delegated to the Direc tor of Community Services for agreement on a list of re quirements. The meeting is scheduled

to start at 6-30 pm in the Rib- ble Valley Borough Council Chamber, Church Street, Ciitheroe.
