Cannabis farm at former vicarage


A 45-year-old man has , appeared before Black­ burn magistrates after a £50,000 cannabis farm was found at a former vicarageinBillingtoh. RoyBrockhill, of Adelaide Street, Eccles, Manches­ ter, was sent on bail to


■ Preston Crown Court af- ter pleading not guilty to : producing 4,802 grams of cannabis and . dishonestly abstracting electricity worth£6,582. Miss Catherine Allan (prosecuting) said police had found a cannabis pro­ duction facility at The Old. Vicarage, Billington. Two people had already been . sent to the Crown Court as a result of the discovery.


Fancy-dress runners took on the Turkey Trot!


A Christinas pudding, Santa and even a sumo wrestler were amoung 240 runners who took part in Hurst Green’s festive trail race,'also known as the Turkey Trot! Ajunior race entitled “The Polar Express” was also held, which attracted a field of 35 Under- 13s, many of themin fancy dress.Aspokesman said: “The race was masterminded by Chris Barnes, who in exchange for marshalling duties donated £520 to the Memorial Hall. Thank you to everyone who helped in the smooth running of the event, including the Bayley Arms.”
