won the national compe tition, being victorious in eight out of the nine fixtures, and it was after this tour nament that Francesca - received the prestigious player of the year award. “I was so proud to receive

this award, particularly with the high calibre of players in volved,”,” she said.

F ran ce s ca was also

selected for the Yorkshire Jets Superleague squad and involved with Qiem in a char ity match alongside “Em- merdale” cast members in preparation for a fixture against Manchester Thun der and the “Coronation Street” cast. - Last month, Francesca

heard the news she had been longing for - that she has been selected for a second year to represent the British Colleges team. In July, she is also looking

forward to visiting Uganda to work with the netball devel opment trust and St Mary’s College is supporting her by raising money for this trip. Francesca is currently

studying sport and PE, psy chology and sociology at the college, as well as training and playing netball at least four times a week. . Kelly Reynolds, hersport

and PE teacher, said: “We are extremely proud of Franc esca being chosen again for the British Colleges netball team - it’s a fantastic achieve ment”.
