will also look at starting a new group course for complete beginners if there is enough interest expressed. The Improvers' course is ideal for guitarists - perhaps those who are self-taught - who know a few basic chords but find it difficult to change fluently between them, or for people who would like to learn a few more chords and extend their knowledge, skills and repertoire. If you would like to move your guitar
playing forward, improve your basic technique, learn some new songs or just want to play with other guitarists and have a bit of fun in the process,
- then this course is for you. The group is run on a relaxed basis
and is paced not too fast so that evetyone can make progress and feel involved. The group is for people who wish to
learn acoustic guitar through playing a vvide range of musical styles. Places on the Improvers' course are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The current series of Monday night group sessions , began on Janiiaiy 7th and runs for 11 weeks with;a half-term break to coincide with school holidays.

TIPITINA and the One Voice Choir raise the curtain on the New Year
; THE Grand's 2013 live music programme takes off next Friday Oanuary 18th) with a mouth watering concert that brings together the best in blues, jazz and gospel. The North-West based One Voice Community
Choir will set the evening in motion followed by a performance from Ronnie Scott's favourites, Tipitina, a five-piece band fronted by the wonderful Debbie Jones. Led by the inspirational Tyndale Thomas MBE,
the One Voice Community Choir was formed back in 1999 in Preston. It celebrates diversity and sources new material from many musical influences. Nearing 14 years in age and with 65 members, the choir is highly regarded, not
I least for its stunning sound and versatile choral : ensemble. "One Voice" has performed in [ some salubrious venues including Westminster Abbey and also recorded Lancashire's song for
; Children in Need - not bad for an organisation ! that began as a community arts project in ' 1999. Debbie Jones sings both with the One Voice
Choir as well as fronting the New Orleans-style jazz and blues sound that is West Lancashire based Tipitina (pictured above). Together with the incredible boogie pianist
Justin "Spiderfingers" Randall, and the tight rhythm section of James Agg (double bass) and Bryan Hargreaves (drums), Tipitina have become a hugely popular act at London's
famous Ronnie Scott's. The second half of the show will feature a live
