LOCAL Land-Rover deaiers Hiliendaie treated young carers in Pendie and Burnley at an evening at their outlet in Nelson. Many are not in full-time education because


they are the principal carer for an adult with dis­ abilities, and the decision to invite them to the Hiliendaie showroom in Churchill Way was taken


after directors attended a carers group meeting. There, they were treated to a buffet meal pro­ vided by Burnley Football Club and enjoyed dis­ plays from the police and the fire and rescue serv­ ice and a visit from the Mayor and Mayoress of Pendie, Conn, and Mrs Tony Beckett. TTiey were allowed to sit in police cars and the fire service


staged a chip pan fire simulation and allowed the youngsters to activate sirens. Spokesman Tracey Taylforth said: “These


youngsters have it tough so it was nice to bring them down here and have a party. We were all absolutely shattered at the end of the night but all the youngsters thoroughly enjoyed it.”
