A FIFTIETH celebration that was fun-filled and fabulous! T h a t ’s the verdict on

Ribchester’s anniversary week end which was packed with memorable moments from the sellout cabaret concert on Friday night to Saturday’s fire

work finale and Sunday’s tradi tional tea party.

Field Day Chairman Gill

Turner said: “The verdict was it’s been fantastic, it really was a superb few days. We .set out to involve every part of the

community over the weekend and we achieved it - there was

something for everybody.” She paid tribute “to the help

of a really good committee” and all who helped ensure the Field Day was a success. New Field Day Queen Siobhan

Lough-Scott had a particularly busy day. After officially opening the

main Saturday event, she took part in a display by Longridge Gymnastics, and then com peted in the afternoon races! The crowning ceremony

must have brought back some very special memories for the Field Day’s VIP guests - the 26 former Queens who joined the parade.

Entertainments ranged from

John Evans with his amaz ing act entitled The Balance Qf Power when he balanced a Mini car on his head, to Lancashire Hawks and Owls, Ribchester Morris dancers and the Longridge High School Samba Band. The evening saw the village in party mood with music from " local bands Crown Top Kings and Empire State. T h e w e e k
