Glitheroe’s Tamanna Women and Children’s Group. The multi-faith group staged the event at
the St Mary’s Centre, Church Street, and en couraged members to tell stories about faith and fricndsliip that related to their own faith The vicar of Clitheroe Parish Church, Rev’ Andy Proud, also gave a talk to the group. “Everyone who attended the event had a
wonderful time. The whole event was about faith and friendship and united members of the community. Friendships were also estab- lished during the day,” said the group’s chair man Shanaz Hussain.
A summer family event will be staged by the group at Clitheroe Cricket Club on Sunday,

Villages gearing up for big cycling event
DOWNHAM, and other villages sur rounding Pendle Hill, are gearing up for the biggest event in the UK’s cy cling calendar. The National Road Race takes place on
Sunday, June 27th, with the 7.5 mile cir cuit on closed roads from Barley village up to Annel Cross, under Pendle Hill, down Wheathead Lane and along Blacko Bar Road to Roughlee and back to Barley. Transport will be provided at Downham
to take spectators to the top of the course at Annel Cross, which is just above Down ham. The women’s race starts at 8-30 a.m. with a midday e.xpecied finish, while the men’s race starts at 12-30 p.m. with a 5-30 p.m. expected finish.
