Singer Rick’s cash boost for charily

A CONCERT by accomplished actor, singer and platinum selling songwriter Rick Guard held at Clit- heroe’s The Grand earlier this year raised more than £1,300 for the Alzheimer’s Society. Rick, who is an established member of Ribches-

ter theatre group Ribcaged Productions, has now presented a cheque for £1,328.25 to a representative from the Society.

.

• • The charity’s work is close to the contemporary jazz singer’s heart following the death of his mother from the disease. A song entitled “Missing Person” from his latest album “Anyone But Me” is written about Rick’s recent time away from music, during which he looked after his mother. Both the song, and the album, is dedicated to her

struggle and, as such, Rick has teamed up with the Alzheimer’s Society, a cause for which he has been a huge supporter, to make a contribution from every sale of the new album.

SABDEN LIVE SUCCESS: Mr Kevan Lingard presents the money raised from the Sabden Live concert to Audrey Platt from East Lancashire Hospice and John Clegg from Pendleside Hospice outside the Pendle Witch pub at Sabden.

: Concert was a hit for hospices

AN open air music event in Sab den raised more than £1,100 for Pendleside and East Lancashire hospices. . The first ever Sabden Live was a

fantastic event, attracting crowds of people to the village on the May Day bank holiday weekend. When the money from dona

tions was counted a presentation evening was held at the Pendle Witch pub to hand it over to hos pice representatives Miss Audrey Platt, from East Lancashie Hos pice, and Mr John Clegg, from Pendleside Hospice, by concert organiser and musician Mr Kevan Lingard, who lives in Sabden and

is a member of the band Herman’s Hermits.

. . ' He drew in a line-up of mainly

local bands to play at the event and some were able to also play at the presentation evening, hosted by licensees Ben and Kerry Crook. There was also a raffle which raised extra funds for the charities.
