Moving theatre experience....

MANCHESTER’S famed Library Thea tre is on the move, writes our reviewer Pippa Munro Hebden. . Now that the much-loved venue under

the Central Library has closed forever, the company is “on tour” for a few years until its new home in Peter Street is ready. But the spirit, the essence of The Li

brary Theatre Company survives. It has found a temporary new home at The Lowry, one of the North West’s most prestigious venues. In December the Library Company will

present Charles Dickens’ perennial fa- ■ vourite “A Christmas Carol”. In 2011 a production of Ibsen’s “A ,

Doll’s House” is scheduled. However, the Library Theatre Com

theatre.com

pany is also active in a number of other Manchester venues, including an adap tation of another Dickens work, “Hard Times”, in a very appropriate venue, an old Victorian Mill in Ancoats. Annie Horniman’s inspiration lives on. For more information visit: www.library ■ :
