pervert iS sent back to prison
A “CUNNING” pervert banned from having a home computer after download ing child porn is back behind bars for bvo- and-a-half years for doing it again - in a public internet cafe.
. Formerly of Croft Street, Clitheroe, and latterly living in Barrowford, Russell Wilkinson (34) was not allowed a compu ter with internet access under the terms of a five year Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) imposed in 2008 for six of
fences of making indecent photos of teen- age boys.

children who had entered competitions at McDonald’s.
This week Burnley Crown Court heard
that the SOPO imposed for his crimes in 2008 had not deterred Wilkinson. It also prevented him from associating with chil dren under 18, but he was arrested and
jailed for 18 months for breaching the or der after he was seen playing with young sters at an evangelical church where mem bers had taken him under their wing. He was on licence from that sentence
when he was arrested again and recalled to prison after a project worker in Bri- erfield, where the internet cafe was, alert ed police.
After the project worker was told of
Wilkinson’s record, he checked the com puter which Wilkinson had been using and found he had been visiting porn websites with pictures of young naked males en gaged in sex acts. He called police and the computer was seized and examined. Now Wilkinson, who had also flouted a

supervision order, has been virtually pro hibited from using the internet, possibly for life, afteradmitting 14 counts of mak ing indecent images of children, involving 25 pictures. ; The defendant was slammed by a Judge
Beverley Lunt as “cunning” after she said the level of determination he used to ac cess the pictures was a great concern, as he knew the SOPO was meant to stop him. Wilkinson, of Bedford Street, Barrow
ford, was put on the sex offenders register again. Judge Lunt made a new and indefinite
SOPO banning the defendant from own ing, possessing or using a computer or mo bile telephone with internet access, except for controlled use in a working environ ment with the knowledge of the police. He was also banned from working with chil dren for life.
