ble Valley-based group, which raises funds for UNICEF. In 2009, committee members achieved
their first goal of raising £110,000 to facil itate the distribution of vaccines in Ethio pia through the Cold Chain Project. This year, their aim has been to raise
funds for UNICEF’s Malaria Net Cam paign and all the proceeds from the con cert will go to this appeal. A donation of
just £5 can pay for an insecticide treated net, which lasts up to three years and is the single most effective way of reducing child mortality in Sub Saharan Africa. Sheila Bailey, of Blue Ribbon Fund

CLITHEROE’S.“Real Christmas Shop’,’, housed in the old Sue Ryder shop in Castle- gate and staffed by Clitheroe Churches in Partnership, is now in its final week of opening.'
- Over the past fortnight many people
have visited the shop, where they have been given free coffee and mince pies (kindly
provided by Molly’s cafe, next door). Christmas giveaways have included can
dles, booklets and a copy of Luke’s Gos pel.

and Mayoress of Clitheroe and by the Bish op of Blackburn, who was delighted that in a season so often dominated by a price tag, Christians were serving others for free. • The shop is open on Tuesdays and Sat
