■ out RVBC's "hot half dozen" ..priorities for 2009. Number one priority is "to progress the regeneration of Clitheroe and Longridge... including, where appropriate, the acquisition and development of strategic sites".

mism for more building. ■. Not all of your readers ■will

be aware how far this process has advanced. The Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SLHAA) identi fies possible sites for affordable housing in the Ribble Valley. Several.of these sites are in’ areas which'^appear unsuitable, for further development. ’

Guest speaker for the evening was Mr K. R. Geddes who gave a talk and slide show on "Better use of your camera." Mr Geddes is an expert photographer with many qualifications. After initial techni cal explanations which were ideal for keen photographers with good quality photographic equip ment, he demon-

■ strated, with slides, the -various effects of light, apperture and

■ shutter speed on the ■ resulting photo graph. Everything needed to be proper ly balanced to pro duce a stunning and unusual photograph. One particular shot showed two girls with only one leg each because the shutter speed had been too slow. Also he showed how tele photo lenses can be ■very useful and gave some, useful tips when taking a per son’s photograph. I t often was more inter esting to have them set off-centre by a-

■ third from the bot tom and side of the frame. His tips and ideas were quite inspirational.
