HEAVY rain and winter storms caused chaos in one Ribble Valley village la s t Thursday. Roads were badly hit after the River Ribble in Sawley burst its


banks, tvith motorists unable to travel through the village. Despite the downpours and road


closures. Dave McGrath, watch manager for Clitheroe’s retained tire station, said although the


roads were bad, luckily no homes were flooded. Chief photographer BEN PARSONS took these amaz­ ing shots of Sawley which give just a feel of the awesome power of the flood waters.
