Kearns Banks Musgrove (21), pictured, who died in Decem ber .-13 days after she married her childhood sweetheart, Matthew. A former pupil of St Augus

tine’s RC High School, Billing- ton, and St Mary’s Primary School, Langho, Sadie was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (a cancer of the

. myeloid line of white blood cells) in November, 2005. In June, 2006, she under went a successful bone-mar-

row transplant after a'donor from outside the family was found.

, A year later, a lump was dis covered on her chest and doc tors confirmed the cancer had returned. ' -

-

She died peacefully at home on December 29th. r

. Sadie’s cousin, Shelley Kearns (31), who lives in Langho, said: “The charity has been set up to.help young

people and their families who are battling with leukaemia. . “Sadie was a beautiful

young lady with a heart of gold, and her parents have lost their future and only child and her husband, Matthew, has lost his soul mate. . “This charity will go on to

help young people and their families who have the illness and give them financial aid at such a difficult stage in their lives.” , ,

■ A- series of fund-raising events will take place through out the year to boost funds for thecharity. . .

■ Among them is a quiz night to be held on Friday, July 4th,

. at the Orchard Club, Whalley Road, Bastwell, from 7-30 p.m.

fun and the support- was absolutely wonderful; We managed to raise £500 for Cancer Research, but it was quite emotional too as every one was thinking about Sadie. “I did it last year for her and

she was waiting at the finish ing line for me.” Shelley added that a website

had also been set up to honour Sadie’s memory. ' ■ Anyone wishing to pay trib
