DON’T know what to give this Christmas? How about the gift of life?

The National Blood Service is urging people to make a special

effort to give blood as Christmas approaches. During the festive season it needs to collect more blood than usual to ensure blood' is available for patients throughout the hoUday. However, the task is an annual challenge as donors are affect

ed by bouts of colds and flu and struggle to find time to donate in the busy festive period. Rachel Roberts, speaking for the National Blood Service, said:

“At this time of year we really do need everyone to make a spe cial effort to give blood. If you can possibly find the time please adding gi-ving blood to your Christmas shopping list. Your kind ness could mean the gift of life for a patient this Christmas.” Anyone aged between 17 and 59, weighing more than 50kg (7

stone 121b.) and in general good health could potentially give blood and save lives this Christ- mais. A session will be

held at West Brad ford Village Hall, in Grindleton Road, on Wednes day, December 27th, from 10 a.m. to 12-30 p.m. and 2-30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Regular donors

are encouraged to call 0845 7711 711 to make an appointment for one of these ses sions. For more infor

mation call 0845 7711711 or visit www.blood.co.uk.
