HEALTHCARE in the UK is changing. At the Ribble Valley's

local private hospital, Abbey Gisburne Park, the management team are always ready to shout out the benefits of private health care. Whether insured or not,

the wide range of surgical procedures and treatments are readily available to customers who wish to have the benefits of pri vate care. Investing in up-to-date

technology and state-of- the-art equipment plays a major role in the develop ment of new services at Abbey Gisburne Park. Owned by Covenant

Healthcare and being part of six private hospitals in the North-West of Eng land and Scotland, the group has invested heavily in new theatre and diag nostic equipment as well as a complete refurbish ment of the Grade I listed building, which sits in 200 acres of parkland in the delightful Ribble Valley.

or a treatment in out patients, you will benefit from the ambiance created by the hospital being located in a magnificent setting. The journey to the hospital from the village of Gisbum takes you through the wonderful scenery of the Ribble Valley before arriving at the entrance to the hospital.

OUT-PATIENT SERVICES

From a range of consult

ing suites and treatment rooms which are located with easy access within the hospital, there is a radiology department which has a range of sophisticated diagnostic equipment including gen eral X-ray and ultrasound and a newly-installed mammography breast X- ray, which will be available for patients from July. The Radiology Depart

ment also has the benefit of an MRI scanner, which offers more in-depth imag ing when perhaps the problem area cannot be identified by a general X- ray. Health screening is also

available with directors' health checks and person al health checks in the veiy busy health screening unit, which is under the direction of Dr Mary Adams. The Physiotherapy

Department, with its unique hydrotherapy pool, is readily available for out patients, as is the newly- established Sports Medicine and Rehabilita tion Clinic run by Dr Phil Batty.

SURGERY A very extensive range

of surgical procedures is undertaken at Abbey Gis burne Park Hospital. This includes a full range of orthopaedic surgery, with specialists in shoulder, hip and knees, and foot surgery. General surgery, includ

ing hernia repairs, general gastric and vascular surgery is also carried out. The hospital has consul tants who also specialise in ENT, gynaecology, oph thalmology, urology and neurosurgery - to name just a few of the speciali ties.
