Councillors disagree COUNCILLORS did not agree with officials about the potential effect of an extension at Croft Cottage, New­ ton. Ribble Valley Borough Council’s Planning and Development Committee decided th a t the extension could be built if conditions on size, materials and other factors could be agreed with officers.

extension's effect on the area would not be unacceptable. Officers had recommended refusal

THE Countryside Agency will issue the provi sional map of common land and open country, for the lower North West of England on Novem-

Youth admits offence


POLICE found Andrew Spencer sitting under a bridge by a stream in a Sabden play area, smok­ ing cannabis. Blackburn magistrates heard that Spencer told the officers he "just wanted to get
