Free kick expert Braithwaite helps Rimington see off leaders
Rimington . . Stacksteads. . . . . ,C'j-.-A-
.RIMINGTON followed-up- last week’s excellent win over Enfield by beating top-of-the-. table Stacksteads. ■ The home, side started
brightly and O’Neill’s excellent, cross was flieked-on but McCullough could only chest the ball into the arms of a grateful keeper. I t was McCullough’s run
which led to a free-kick being awarded outside the area and dead-bail specialist'Terry Braithwaite curled it over the defensive wall to leave the keep er stranded.
/- Rimingtbn doubled their lead .wh'en Dobson and Zulfi caused panic in the defence and Liam Carter followed up to tuck away the chance. Now rampant, the home side.,
had chances to put the game beyond the'table-toppers.. • O’Neill’s fierce cross only just
evaded Dobson’s lunge, McCul lough had three or four efforts from long-range and Lawson had a header well saved. -- I t was. the centre-half who
grabbed the third just before half-time with another header from an O’Neill comer to pro vide a much-needed cushion for the second half.
-Rimington continued rto dominate after the interval
' until'Stacksteads were reduced to 10 men with about 25 min-
■ utes remaining. , As is"always the case, the i0- ' men worked extremely hard while it must be said Riming ton took; their foot off the gas
, and it was no surprise when . their lead was cut, with Ker shaw well beaten., The home keeper was then
forced into a smart save to keep the two-goal lead intact as Rimington eventually ran out worthy winners. • The locals travel to Colne on .

her achievements, although she also feels there is room for improvement. To that end, Anna, who has been in the national rankings
since Under l l level, has enlist ed the help of two hew coaches.. Peter Warden, a former
national coach who once trained with Anna’s mother, Frances, will help to bring out the best of her hurdling ability, while she will also travel to Leeds to work with Mike Stay-

West High Performance Squad for hurdles, is in training at the moment in preparation for the season, and after taking a break from the weights, is using Hicks leisure club to prepare.
