Read rewarded for great team effort

By PHIL SIMPSON

A SUPERB team effort was behind Read Cricket Club coming away with the Jennings Ribblesdale League title for the first time in

| over 20 years. Professional Akram Raza was the chief insti

gator in their success, but superb individual efforts from Craig Walton, Warren Eastham and Frank Barden contributed greatly to the cham-

Walton, who totalled 545. In a season where the bowlers did much of the spadework, Walton proceeded to contribute 20 | wickets, with Eastham and Barden also doing

their fair share/' ■ , ' They both gave consistently high-quality dis

in fourth position. Paid man Shahid Nawaz had a superb cam
