Remember this bright "Sparky?"
He used to'be a lad about town.
In his white van driving up and down.
The favourite watering hole was the Bridge Inn.
His trucker mates used to meet there with him. .
. Their, talk filled the air with idiesebfumes.
,
And the juke box played all the up-to-date times.
Now he's got quite a lot older.
His lifestyle is a little more sober.
He realised he was reaching 40.
So he became a wee bit sporty.
Biking and swimming to be told.
I think he's scared o f getting old.
Has no-one told him, sink or swim.
This is the age that life begins.
Happy 40th. Luv

AGRICULTURE is continuing to undergo the biggest structural and economic change since the Second World War, with a resulting mass exo dus of farmers, farm workers and a similar knock-on eifect throughout the whole of the agricultural supply indus try.
The foot and mouth epidemic of last year just served to accelerate this
'process and gave many farmers a* ideal opportunity to leave the indus try, while giving many others a perio to reflect and plan their re-entry int a vastly different industry. These changes will inevitably mean majo changes in the agricultural supplj industry. So what does the future have i store for those businesses remaining
both farmers and suppliers? In the global economy which is *
fact of life now, farmers will have t( compete with little or no help in term: of productions subsidies; instead money into the rural economy will b linked to environmental and conserva tion issues rather than productioi based. These changes will inevitably sp
up the current reduction in farme numbers and quickly lead to a poin where 20% of farms are producin 80% of the output, with the remain ing 80% of holdings relying increas
