Wolves turn on style to beat league leaders
Clitheroe Wolves Under. 108.............................. .............4 Colne Clarets ................2 WOLVES turned on one of their best performances of the season to beat the War- burton’s League's top side. The locals went ahead
through Nathan Balch, who managed to poke over the line after the keeper couldn't hold a Michael Clarkson shot. Colne missed a couple of
chances before they managed to grab an equaliser. However a Clarkson drive
found the top comer to restore the lead at The game continued in’ the .
same vein in the second half, but eventually Colne grabbed a late equaliser. This only served to spur the
Wolves forward again, and Clarkson again restored the
lead with a fine strike from outside the box. The impressive Balch then
made the points safe with a good finish on the end of a mazy run. Clitheroe Wolves Under 11s

two contrasting halves as United started the better and dominated the whole of the first half. Clitheroe had a num

break, Wharton picked up the ball from deep and set-off on a pacy run in to the penalty area before being upended. The referee had no
hesitation in pointing to the spot. Hodgkinson stepped-up and coolly slotted home to give United the lead. The goal proved to be
crucial for the locals as they came under fire from some strong Padi ham pressure. Hargreaves in the
United goal had to be at his best to keep the lead intac t as the Storks totally dominated. However, stoic defen sive work by Clitheroe's
