Clitheroe aim to improve on mixed start

CLITHEROE look to build on Tuesday night's draw at Work ington as they entertain Salford City at Shaw- bridge on Saturday. Denis Underwood and

Borough Park was a posi tive response to defeat at title favourites Newcastle Town on Saturday. There was no shame in
night at Holker Old Boys, who have lost three of then- four games so far - including
a 4-0 reverse at Salford on
Tuesday. So the prospects for a
defeat against Town - they have stated their intentions with 15 goals and four wins in four games - including a 5-0 thrashing of St Helens Town on Tuesday. Their Stoke-on-Trent
neighbours Kidsgrove Ath letic have also set the pace with maximum points from four games, and already they are the benchmark for sides with ambitions of pro- motion to the UniBond

A LATE equaliser from Dave Bennett - his second goal of the game - rescued a point for the Blues at former Foot ball League side Workington on Tues
day. It was a creditable draw for Clitheroe,
despite the fact that the Reds have yet to win in the North Western Trains League
this season. Workington, who last played in the
Football League in 1977, were relegated from the UniBond First Division last season and presented a stern test. The game lacked class, and both sides contributed to making it a scrappy

out of his goal and Bennett cooly lobbed
the ball over his head and into the net. Workington equalised three minutes
later when Ian Milbum headed past Jon Parrott, with the Blues keeper stood
transfixed. The Blues went close from a corner
