THERE’S just a week to go to this year’s Great British Rhythm

and Blues Festival. And within the next few days the

fans—from all comers of the globe — will be converging on Colne. The visiting blues enthusiasts will be arriving any day now with their rucksacks and tents for yet another

year’s blues bonanza promises to be

no different. Some great names will be appear ing on the two main stages as well as lesser known artists performing at the Lesser Municipal Hall and many of the town’s pubs and clubs including the Crown Hotel, Jim’s Cafe, Colne Conservative Club and

year of blues indulgence. Next weekend over 650 artistes will

take to the stage. International artists from America, Canada, New Zealand, Belgium, Germany and France, will be ready to perform at Colne Municipal Hall, and the town’s leisure centre will provide the venue for the British players to sing all kinds of blues from the smoochy slow to zydeco rock. This festival, which is recognised as one of the most exciting events in the British blues calendar, has, over the past six years, attracted thou sands of fans to the Bonny town on the hill for a Bank Holiday week end of sheer blues music—and this

to see is the true master of the chro matic harmonica, Rod Piazza, and his Mighty Flyers. They will be cre ating a stir with their exciting and energetic live performance on Mon day night at Colne Muni, in the build up to the grand finale.
