Big day countdown
BECOMING engaged . . looking forward to the wedding . planning the big day, It
should all prove to be one of the most
exciting times of your life.
However, to make
sure that everything runs smoothly and everyone turns up on time can be a daunting task. There’s an awful lot to organise — guests,
clothes, church, reception, flowers, and so on — which can be a major headache. The first thing to do
after announcing your intentions to the nearest and dearest is to set a date and then a budget. Weddings today can
cost a small fortune even if your guest list is pruned down to the minimum and the chosen venue is a modest one.
Budget Whatever your
budget, small, unlimited or somewhere in between, it’s best to
keep a written record of just how much is being spent.
Use broad subject
headings as a starting point which should include stationery, the ceremony, clothes, flowers, photography, transport, the reception and honeymoon. Next, work out a
schedule in order of priority to make sure that everything gets done on time and nothing vital gets left to the last minute.
Venue Book the venue for
the service — church or register office — and then decided how many people will be attending the reception. Make sure that you book these well in advance as all the popular
locations are often booked up months ahead. It's also worth
booking the photographer as early
as possible to avoid disappointment if you can't get your first choice.
The bride and her
dress are the focal points of the day and some serious consideration needs to be given early on about how it will look.

include drinks in the calculations as it's customary for drinks to be handed out to guests on arrival and, usually, during the meal. All brides look
