THE charitable trust which runs the Queen Elizabeth II Playiny Fields at Whalley lias received a welcome £152 boost.
Members raised the
money at a tombola stall at Gisburn Sunday Market at the weekend.
Mr Michael Green, the
QEII manayement trust secretary, said: “We would like to thank the public wlio so generously sup ported the stall and Kay Promotions for a free site at the market."
The trust was formed 13

A couple who met when they were students at Rath University, Miss Joanne Vidler and Mr Martin Chatt, were mar ried at St Mary's Church, Raleombe. Sussex. The bride is the daugh
only son of All- and-Mrs M. 1). Chatt, of Raleombe. Given away by her
ter of Mr Edward Vidler, of Clitheroe, and the late Mrs Joyce Vidler. The bridegroom is the
father, the bride wore an ivory silk gown with rose trimming on the neckline and sleeves. She had a full-length veil and carried
a bouquet of champagne roses. Rridesmaids were Miss
Elizabeth Vidler, the bride's sister, and Miss Kate Oyilvy, who wore deep green silk dresses with yypsopliila in their hair and carried posies of
cream freesia, roses and alstromeria. Rest man was Mr Paul
McDermott and ushers were Mr Kirk Wood, Mr Andrew Johnston and Mr David Garner. The choir came from
Ardinyly College, the bridegroom's old school, mil the organist was Mr
Stephen Perrins. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Norman •int. A reception was held at

A walk in the Dales
R1RRLE VALLEY ram blers were among a large party of North East Lan cashire Ramblers who met at Settle to explore the Yorkshire Dales, passing through Hawes, over Rut ter Tubs Pass and into the village of Thwaite. The group split into four
parties, with the largest group following field paths to Angram. They walked over the grouse moor to High Bridge and crossed the heck, going along Cot- tersliy Scar to pass the waterfalls o f Currach Force and Kisdon Force, through the woods and fields to Milker. Here they enjoyed ice

AN insight into Cross roads was given to nii-m- b e r s o f th e U n ited Reformed Church Ladies' Guild, Clitheroe, by Mrs Kathleen Eastwood. She told her audience
how it was part o f a national organisation sup porting people who care for the carers of mentally or physically handicapped people at home. The idea originated

CLITHEROE Naturalists went hack in time during their recent walk.

les and .Joyce Westall, the 38 members started from Langstone Common and walked to Donny Hridye. where they divided into small yroups and explored
the Sedywick geological trail alony the River Clouyh.

Week.” Ian Redmond, who has written hooks and done much conservation work on
behalf o f elephants, gave a slide show and explained his work. Elephant week commemorates the first anniversary o f the CITES Confer
