WHALLEY Deanery has joined others in the Black burn Diocese to call for “extra time” in 1!)!)1 — by producing the area’s first ever 15-nnmth calendar!
It is because each of the
months, going through to March 15192, has been pro duced by one of the IS deaneries in the diocese. The K ib b le V a l ley
Mayor and Mayoress, Coun. Howel Jones and his daughter Helen, were pre sented with a copy at a special ceremony at Down- ham Mill, Downham, the home o f Mr Michael McFall, a member of the Diocesan Church Urban Fund Action Committee, and Mrs McFall.
There they met people
involved with the calendar in the Whalley Deanery and the artist for Whal- ley’s contribution for the month of .July, Mrs Mary Young, a member of the congregation at St Leon ard’s, Langho.
The calendar features
the Kibble Valley hills, Whalley Abbey and the wild flowers in our hedges and will be on sale for 12.51) at every church in the deanery to raise money for the Church Urban Fund. Other designs within its
pages feature work from schoolchildren as well as a professional artist, with their topics ranging from
local industry to tourism,
c h u r c h e s a n d t h e countryside. It is understood that a
copy of the calendar will shortly be sent to the Queen. In our picture, Mrs
Young shows her contri bution to the civic leaders and other members of the Whalley Deanery.
