A HOTEL proprietor whose van collided with a stationary jeep had been working long hours and his concentration lapsed
i Richard Bowman (55), of The Inn at Whitewell, was fined £100 when he admitted driving without
| due care and attention.
I The court was told that a jeep was parked on
I Edisford Road, Clitheroe, at about 7-15 p.m. On hearing the sound of a col lision, the driver returned to see the defendant’s van in the middle of the road with extensive damage to its front and his own jeep knocked forward into a gateway with damage to
its rear. When interviewed by
police, Bowman admitted driving into the back of the stationary vehicle.
i He told the court in a letter that he had been working long hours in the
I course of his business and his concentration lapsed as he was driving along. He attempted to avoid the jeep by swerving, but went into a skid and a col lision occurred.
