It is more than 30 years
since Miss Postlethwaite, a retired State Registered Nurse, became involved- with the blood transfusion service.
For many years she
was a general treasurer and musical specialist with the Girl Guides’ As sociation and has studied at the Northern School of Music.
NWWA, Mr Wharton made his first donation in 1964 because “it was a good idea at the time” and has since been a regular donor, always thinking1 that it is better to give than to receive.

ABBEY
THE warden of Whalley Abbey, Mr D. Hartley, outlined its history when he spoke to St Paul’s Mothers’ Union, Low Moor. His talk was illus trated by slides. Built in 850 AD, the
Abbey was bought by the Diocese of Blackburn in 1926 and is now used as a Conference House for re treats, training weekends, a holiday centre and courses for all kinds of organisations.
