Bus driver in the


old days


A MAN who had had close links with the early years of local bus services, Mr Eric Embley, of Tower Hill, Clitheroe, died on Friday, aged 66.


For the last 24 years of


his working life he was a d r iv e r for the Horrock- sford Lime Company, but many people will recall his previous similar length of service as a bus driver. His f ir s t employment


w a s w i t h Mr I s a a c Bleazard, of Bolton-by- Bowland, who originated the bus service between


that village and Clitheroe. Mr Embley began as


conductor, graduated to the role of driver and for some years continued as such when the service was taken over by Bolton-by Bowland Motor Services. He quit the buses and


joined Horrocksford,from whose service he retired two years ago. Mr Embley was a member of the Royal British Legion. He leaves a wife Mildred and a mar ried son, David. The funeral took place


on Tuesday, the Vicar of C l i th e r o e , Canon John Hudson^ conducting a ser-
