the New Year 29 members of Sabden WI welcomed Mrs Marjory McKeand, of Simonstone. She arrived despite the bad weather and shortage of petrol to give a talk and demonstra- t ion on “ Crochet ing today.”She showed many lovely pieces of crochet, some modern and some Victo rian. Her display included a cap from Dubai, an Irish doily, cushion covers from France, and a beautiful dress which she was wearing. She was thanked by Mrs

The choir gave an excellent performance of great variety, including several les ser -known carols. Many members are fine instrumentalists and had an opportunity to dis play their talents in the programme chosen by Mrs Tomlinson. Mr Boden thanked the
choir and Mrs Tomlinson, and presented flowers to Mrs Tomlinson. The Vicar seconded the vote of thanks and also thanked Mr and Mrs Boden, Mrs K. Aspinall and the girls for their help.
Covenant In accordance with the
usual custom Chatburn Methodists attended their annual convenant service on Sunday. This is always held on the first Sunday of the year and the members
are invited to renew their covenant and then partake
of communion. The service was led by the Rev. Ward Jones.
