arose to set up in business on my own account I jumped at the chance,” said Mr Kelly. “It gave me the opportun­


ity to put into effect the ideas I had formed — the first of which was to special­ ise in one, well-made type of car on the new car sales side. “FIAT have always filled


this requirement as far as I am concerned. Handling them over a considerable period, their reliability and ruggedness has made them a good car to service — and, by their looks and elegance, models which have been a pleasure to display.” This type of single-


mindedness of purpose has made the firm the success story it is today. “I have never, for one


moment, regretted my deci­ sion to specialise — and would pick th e same manufacturer today. I have been amazed at the consis­ tent quality displayed by FIAT — plus their reliabil­ ity. They have certainly played a large part in the growth of this firm.” Having plenty of “elbow


room” is a new experience for him. ‘We have always had to cope with being cramped. Having a sales complex which can handle up to 1,000 cars a year is marvellous. Also, having one of the most modem workshop areas in Lanca­ shire is a great thing, both for the staff who have to work in it and for the sales staff who front it. It is complete down to the last detail — even to having an exhaust extraction unit set into the floor. There will be no air pollution problems here.”
