THERE was an extremely good attendance in the light horse section at the seventh annual show of the Wiswell Rebels Pony Club, at Stockshill Farm, Wiswcll, on Sunday. Over fifty riders competed

in the novice jumping and other classes were well filled, despite torrential rain, which forced the children's sports

section to be cancelled. Entries in the dog section were rather disappointing, but all those competing enjoyed their classes.

Perils of cooking for TV., cameras

PREPARING food for television commercials is the un usual occupation of Mrs. Shirley Nightingale, daughter of

a Clithcroe couple.

Frank Dakin of Church Street, Clitheroe, Mrs. Nightingale has been in Clithcroe to attend the wedding of her brother. She also writes about cookery for various periodicals, and compiles hand outs and supplements. Before becoming a professional cook, Mrs. Nightingale, who lives in London, was an air hostess, and through this she met her hus band, who is a pilot.. “I first started doing cookery

for photography, and .advertising because my husband' was away so much,” she said. “It is very difficult because you’ may have to make something several times before it is just right.’’

NO TOUCHING UP

cently had to bake a cake 30 times before she got one that was suitable for, an advertise ment. She also; made, several meringues on one occasion, and after filling them with strawber ries and cream, watched them collapse in a heap. “I later discovered that the

Mrs. Nightingale says she re

is, according to Mrs. Nightin; gale, very unusual for foods prepared for advertisements to be artificially ‘touched up’. “Most of the food you see on TV and in advertisements is edible, although very occasion ally some doctoring is carried out.
