Claxton AS Signs Collaboration Agreement with Seabed Solutions to Enhance


Decommissioning Offer Claxton, a brand in marine energy and infrastructure services company Acteon, has signed a collaboration agreement with Norwegian- based supplier Seabed Solutions to add value to decommissioning projects, helping operators fulfil their obligation to return subsea sites to their natural state.


The partnership simplifies procurement, increases project execution efficiency and reduces costs for infrastructure owners by offering a wider range of dredging, excavation, cutting and decommissioning equipment and services through one contract, a single interface and by using a combined offshore crew.


Claxton, which sits in Acteon’s Energy Services division, and Seabed Solutions have extensive subsea experience, respectively. Claxton has had an operational presence in Norway for over nine years and expanded its base in 2019 to meet industry demand. Seabed Solutions was established in 2015 by a management team which has decades of experience leading the Norwegian seabed intervention market.


“As more and more oil and gas installations are getting close to the end of their economic and productive life, the demand for decommissioning services increases. This partnership means that the owners of the outdated installations can get the entire scope of decommissioning services on the


same contract,” says Christian Aas, Seabed Solutions Managing Director.


“Claxton is excited about the partnership, which will allow us to explore synergies to enhance our client offerings and methodologies to drive growth,” adds Nick Marriott, Claxton General Manager, Norway. “Offering integrated services through one contract and a single interface, and with collegial crew use, will help to increase procurement and project execution efficiency.”


Strohm and Evonik to Bring TCP with Carbon Fibre PA12 to Green Hydrogen Market


Strohm and Evonik have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop and qualify the use of their respective Thermoplastic Composite Pipe (TCP) technology and unidirectional Carbon Fibre PA12 tape “VESTAPE® PA12-CF” (PA12) for energy transition applications.


The global collaboration agreement paves the way for a green hydrogen transportation solution for offshore wind developers that is non-corrosive, has a carbon neutral manufacturing footprint, and has been qualified by DNV for dynamic and static hydrocarbon services for a lifetime of up to 30 years.


The two companies have been collaborating since 2009, with the first TCP featuring PA12 produced in 2011. The combined technology is currently being used by conventional energy operators in North and South America. The MoU will allow the two companies to prove its versatility for hydrogen and bring it to market.

ideal solution for surface to seabed dynamic hydrogen transport for offshore wind to hydrogen applications.


TCP is non-metallic, corrosion resistant, and insensitive to hydrogen and hydrogen embrittlement. TCP is proven and accepted in the offshore oil and gas sector, which is one of the most risk averse industries, as it requires no maintenance and has a long design life.


TCP is lightweight, spoolable and delivered in long lengths, allowing operators to use existing field support vessels on long-term charter rather than mobilising dedicated pipelay assets. This delivers significant cost savings to the client and reduces CO2 emissions.
