THE HAIR COACH LOVE IS IN THE ‘HAIR’

“Your ultimate 6-month wedding day hair and scalp timeline for you and the wedding party.”

28

THE MONTH OF LOVE As we start the New Year it’s time to shake things up and make February is traditionally the month of LOVE. 6 million people globally expect or plan a marriage each year on Valentine's Day. But how many of you are preparing your hair and scalp ready for the big day too! It’s not just the ring that needs to be mesmerising.

HAIR AND MAKEUP Hair and makeup provide the perfect finishing touches to your wedding day look, but it takes more than simply booking a stylist and hoping for the best on the day. Ensuring your hair is healthy and glossy and that your scalp is equally cared for and prepared, needs to start months in advance, and you'll want to ensure you have a trial to ensure your chosen hairstyle works well with your dress, veil and accessories. Not to mention ensuring the stylist and their team are also booked at the same time as the venue and the rest of the wedding party also have great hair too!

Starting at least 3- 6 months in advance is the way to go according to Hairtrade.com, as it allows you enough time to get your hair cut, coloured and styled to perfection. Read on for the ultimate wedding day hair guide…

"Perfect wedding hair doesn't just happen – it takes time and plenty of preparation to make sure your 'do looks amazing," says The Hair Coach Shirley Thornhill.

“I have seen so many brides to be over the years come in weeks before the wedding with unconditioned hair and an untried style in a last-minute panic.

The key trick is knowing the stages for great hair and having this as part of your wedding plan. Key is to plan well in advance so everything's in place. By the time you're in the final countdown to the big day, you know you won't have to stress about how your hair will look."

SIX MONTHS It may seem ages until your wedding but it's important to have your style consultations early just in case you're planning any dras- tic changes. If you want to chop off your long hair, try out a new colour or have a go with hair extensions, now's the time to do it. If you change your mind, then you have time to put it right, but if you love your new do then you've found your wedding look. Also consider the time of year and the venue in this planning stage.

It's also a good time to get appointments booked for you, your bridesmaids, partner and mum too. Chances are if you leave it until the last minute you'll be fighting with other brides for those Saturday morning, pre-wedding appointments. Check if your stylist will do hours to suit you.

Confirm all of your wedding hair plan appointments with your hair coach and their team and don’t forget the post wedding hair and scalp care too!
