THE ELAN VALLEY HOTEL

Everybody loves a proper bolt hole and a path less trodden is always nearby in un-spoilt Mid Wales and especially the tranquil Elan Valley. Seventy-two square miles of protected valleys and lakes, dark starry skies, teaming with wildlife whilst happily not teaming with tourists, so much so that it is hard to drag yourself away and leave the calming embrace of this undiscovered and beautiful heart of Wales. The Elan Valley Hotel rings with laughter and warmth, not surprising when you meet your effervescent hosts, Lyn & Rachel Morgan.

The careful restoration of their nine-bedroom hotel blends a relocation of the bespoke sofa & chairs showroom by breathing new life into a grand old house. As a result, you are guaranteed that there will always be a choice of comfy sofas to flop into close by. The interior is contemporary, soft, uncluttered and on trend with a clear eye for design details. The rooms are generous with more sofas and indulgent super-kingsize beds. Clearwen on the ground floor, with its own private entrance and full kitchen offers a self-catering option too.

Rachel’s breakfast is the stuff of legends but with two excellent Chefs who are committed to quality, locally sourced ingredients and seasonal food, with most products sourced from within a 10-mile radius of the hotel and newly built raised beds to provide the kitchen with their own vegetables straight to the plate, you

are assured of a lovely evening meal to finish off your day perfectly.

The valley is a designated International Dark Sky Park with any light pollution carefully controlled so stepping out after dark on a clear night you just need to look up and the sight is magnificent.

Cyclists, anglers and car enthusiasts are welcome here. The series of dams and rivers form a fly-fishing bucket list and National Cycle Route 81 passes directly over the road to wind its way through the Cambrian Mountains.
