Welcome to the February edition of your Live 24-Seven magazine. As I sit writing this it’s a cold and frosty morning with the most beautiful sunrise imaginable. Whilst stunning to look at, it does make me think of sunnier climes with a certain longing. Sound familiar? If you too are yearning for a fabulous holiday in 2022 (and after the last two years, why wouldn’t we be?) we take a look at 15 of what are considered to be the best hotels in the world. Go on, treat yourself.

Talking about treating yourself, February is of course the month of love when we celebrate Valentine’s Day. With this in mind, our retail therapy and gift guide pages are packed with ideas for gifts to spoil your loved ones with – take a look what all of our lovely local shops have to offer.

If you are fed up of nights in and keen to start going out again, February is not going to disappoint. Our local venues, and we are lucky to have so many, have packed schedules of live events this month, with everything from top comedians to classic drama and pop stars young and old gracing the stages. You will literally be spoilt for choice. Take a look at our entertainments pages for some ideas. We also have an interview with the Carlos Acosta, company director of the Birmingham Royal Ballet, which is bringing a brand new version of the classic ballet Don Quixote to the Hippodrome this month.

As a massive fan of TV show MasterChef, going back to the days of Loyd Grossman in fact, I’m always sad when a series comes to an end. I was thrilled though when the latest professional series was won in December by a Brummie no less and better still, that I was able to interview him for this month’s magazine. A truly inspirational young chef, I am sure Daniel Lee is going to be a name to look out for in the future and hopefully us Midlanders will be enjoying his food on a regular basis quite soon.

Hopefully this month’s magazine has lots of features and ideas to inspire you. Have a great month and see you in March when we will be looking ahead to spring.

Sally-ann x
