I am Craig Siller – I am a project manager based in rural Gloucestershire with many decades of experience in the construction / engineering industry working on residential, listed buildings, multi-unit developments, commercial and agricultural buildings for either new build or improvement and extension. I am a degree qualified industry professional, a member of the Association for Project Management, Site Professional Person and Certified Site Manager. I work with local and nationwide experienced project professionals and contractors to put together well considered, realistic, compliant projects to client’s requirements and oversee the development of the project for the client from concept to completion and maintain cost, quality and health and safety compliance.
WHAT DO I DO.
People assume project management is some new way of working, in fact it has always happened traditionally in previous generations either an architect, quantity surveyor or builder will have dealt with much of the management however the way we all live, work and communicate has changed radically and whilst the same skills are needed it is much better that an experienced project manager steers the project and organises the consultants, builders and suppliers and manages the process as the clients experienced and qualified appointed agent.
WHY PROJECT MANAGEMENT MATTERS
Every project needs well considered and informed management from concept through to completion. For example, architects are brilliant designers, engineers are brilliant at making structures stand up and comply, quantity surveyors are brilliant at cost management, builders are brilliant at building, suppliers are brilliant at supplying specific or standard products, the disconnect is how are all these parties act as one
The simple answer is everyone can benefit from cost effective professional project development advice and guidance. It could be that the client has a busy work or home life, the project contemplated is too complex for the client to organise, the risks in not obtaining proper project management can cause clients regulatory, health and safety and legal issues. So, what does it cost? Well, this is where is gets complicated as no two projects are the same so without any idea of the project contemplated, the duration, the cost, the quality required it is impossible to give firm fees. For example, an average new build of £500K build value from start to finish would cost circa £25K in project management fees plus normal consultant’s fees. We give free initial meetings and advice and then when the remit is known provide a full quote for the project management works.
