Smart Buildings Show
The Future Of Facilities Management Is Getting Smarter ExCeL London, 14th-15th October 2026
Smart Buildings Show returns to ExCeL London on 14th-15th October 2026. In 2025 the UK’s only dedicated commercial smart buildings conference and exhibition enjoyed its biggest event yet with more exhibitors than ever before and 3,500 attendees passing through the doors over two days.
This year’s Show will see over 100 exhibitors gathered together under one roof, showcasing the hottest new trends in the industry. What’s more, the dedicated conference programme will feature over 120 speakers in four separate theatres.
Smart Buildings Show links attendees to the newest innovations and insights in the smart buildings sector. It provides the knowledge needed to help them make informed decisions on how to create buildings that are more cost-effective for owners and more efficient and comfortable for occupants.
For facilities managers, the challenge is no longer simply keeping a
building
Monitor, Automate And Improve running. Rising energy
costs, pressure to improve
sustainability and growing expectations from occupants are all changing what good building management looks like. At the same time, new technologies are creating more opportunities to monitor, automate and improve building performance. That makes Smart Buildings Show a useful event for anyone responsible for the day-to-day operation and long-term performance of buildings. Rather than being solely about the latest technology, the show provides an opportunity to look at how smart building solutions are being used to tackle some of the practical issues facilities teams face every day.
Energy management is likely to be high on the agenda. Smart controls can provide facilities managers with a clearer picture of how buildings are using energy, while allowing systems such as HVAC and lighting to respond to occupancy and changing conditions. Used effectively, this can reduce unnecessary consumption and operating costs without compromising the comfort of those using the building.
The same technology can also provide greater control over the occupant experience. Automated systems can help maintain comfortable temperatures, appropriate lighting and good indoor environmental conditions, while data from different building systems can give facilities teams a better understanding of how spaces are actually being used.
Maintenance is another area where smart technology is making a difference. Monitoring equipment in real time can help identify unusual behaviour or potential faults before they develop into major problems. For facilities managers, that can mean fewer unexpected breakdowns, less disruption for occupants and a more proactive approach to maintenance.
Step Away From The Day-To-Day
Perhaps most importantly, Smart Buildings Show offers facilities professionals a chance to step away from the day-to-day and consider what these developments could mean for their own buildings. Seeing
technologies in practice, talking to suppliers
and hearing from other industry professionals can help separate genuinely useful innovations from solutions that may not deliver a worthwhile return.
For managers considering upgrades to building systems, or simply trying to understand where smart technology fits into their wider FM strategy, the show provides a useful opportunity to gather information and ideas in one place. With energy efficiency, sustainability, operational performance and occupant wellbeing all competing for attention, the ability to make better use of building data is becoming increasingly important. Smart Buildings Show is a chance to see what is available, ask the practical questions and return to the workplace with ideas that could make a measurable difference.
