North America's industrial lifting equipment magazine

Lift forward W

elcome to the Winter 2025 edition of Overhead Crane & Hoist. As the year draws to a close, I’m pleased to bring you another issue dedicated to the people, companies and innovations shaping today’s lifting industry. It remains a privilege to share the stories that matter. In this edition, we

explore the technologies, regional developments and industry shifts redefining overhead lifting across the US and beyond. Our state focus turns to Minnesota – a region with many advantages that boost economic growth but, to attract more investment, it needs a more competitive business environment. On page 40, we examine the opportunities and challenges ahead, and consider how the state can position its crane and hoist sector for long-term success.

On page 26, we sit down with Miguel Tellez, CEO of Tele Radio America, who reflects on more than 25 years in the radio-control sector and the courage it took to follow his instincts, cross the Atlantic and build a business from the ground up. We also speak to PWI president and CEO Ryan Miller on page 32, as he shares how a family company can stay true to its core values while continuing to innovate and adapt in an ever-changing market.

Safety remains a defining priority for our industry. In our roundtable on page 48, we take a close look at how

evolving technology and a shrinking skilled labour pool are reshaping the training landscape. Leaders from across the lifting and training sectors weigh in on the most pressing challenges and how safety programmes are evolving to meet them. Just as winter invites us to reflect and regroup, I hope this edition provides insight, inspiration and a clear view of the opportunities on the horizon. From everyone at Overhead Crane & Hoist, we wish you all a wonderful holiday period and look forward to seeing you again in the New Year.
