WindEnergy Hamburg
itting on the banks of the River Elbe, the Free and Hanseatic City will play host once more to WindEnergy Hamburg from September 27–30 2022. Organised by Hamburg Messe und Congress in cooperation with Messe Husum & Congress, the world’s largest expo and global congress for the wind power industry will open its doors for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic, allowing attendees to meet and network face to face. Labelled by its organisers as “The global on and offshore event”, WindEnergy Hamburg will focus on the major issues facing the international wind energy sector, bringing together the top minds from across the industry alongside 1,400 exhibitors – from over 40 countries – demonstrating their innovations and solutions. The organisers of WindEnergy Hamburg see the event as a reflection of the dynamism of the wind
industry, representing its “high innovation potential and a real pioneering spirit”. Taking place every two years – going digital-only in 2020 as a necessary concession to the global pandemic – the event plays host to the full breadth of the industry, from designers and manufacturers to suppliers, operators and service providers, covering both the onshore and offshore halves of the market. The trade fair will see industry leaders – such as Siemens Gamesa, Vestas, Nordex, GE Renewables and MingYang Wind Power Group – rub shoulders with young innovative companies, providing a unique platform to exchange ideas and information with customers, partners and experts, as well as to establish and develop new business contacts.

Set to be held at the Messe und Congress exhibition centre, the trade fair grounds are situated within the heart of the city and offers easy connections to all major transport networks. Boasting a total of 68,500m2 of exhibition space across the ten halls, the organisers of WindEnergy Hamburg consider it to be far more than just another trade fair. The event aims to cover the whole value chain of wind energy and provides a special focus for expertise in its section on storage technologies. Expecting some 30,000 visitors from over 100 countries, WindEnergy Hamburg will provide a comprehensive supporting programme that includes specialist forums and conferences, workshops and lectures, granting all who attend the opportunity to expand their knowledge and develop their networks. WindEnergy Hamburg will also look to champion the ongoing global trends around the ever-increasing demand for onshore and offshore wind energy. A number of key topics have been highlighted ahead of the event, covering a broad range that includes cost efficiency; new market opportunities; responding to falling prices and bureaucratic obstacles; smart energy; realising complex projects; electrification, energy storage and power-to-X solutions; security, cybersecurity and digitalisation and community involvement; all alongside global business insights from industry leaders and political stakeholders. With all of this and more awaiting attendees in September, WindEnergy Hamburg 2022 looks set to be an event to remember. ●
