Company insight

the demands for high availability, great agility and low-maintenance costs. Low- emission and zero-emission drive concepts play a larger role in customer decision- making processes due to environmental and efficiency considerations. This is where MULAG’s decades of experience comes into play, resulting in advanced GSE products with high-end electrical concepts, hydrogen fuel cells and hybrid drive solutions. Following the crisis caused by the Covid- 19 pandemic, used airport vehicles can meet a need in the market where new products are not suitable for various reasons. Used vehicles often have reached the end of their life cycle and are no longer economical due to increased spare parts requirements and downtimes. Here, a comprehensive vehicle refurbishment is a solution to enable a second, quality life cycle.

MULAG offers this through its ‘Certified Refurbished’ range, providing airport tractors that have been refurbished by the original manufacturer and certified partners. This refurbishment is carried out according to stringent specifications. Thus, a cost-

effective alternative to new products is available for replacement or to back up the fleet with reserve vehicles, with a manufacturer’s warranty of six months. An advantage to this is rapid availability of vehicles, a high level of reliability and safety, as well as a longer operating life in comparison with used vehicles that have not been reconditioned.

A range of apron workhorses The range of conveyor belt vehicles are fitted with hydrostatic drives and can be controlled precisely while manoeuvring around the aircraft. Optional extras such as anti-collision systems, guard rails, multi- transfer loading ramps, closed cabs, heating/ preheating systems and others, guarantee individualised configurations.

Conveyor belt vehicles can be delivered with closed sound-isolated cabs, doorless cabs or with an open driver platform, as well as offer a comprehensive user display. There are also alternative drives, such as electric, fuel cell or high-end diesel and belt lengths range from 7.5m to 12m, with a belt load of 135kg/m.

MULAG’s Pulsar container pallet transporters have set the highest standards for decades, providing cargo handling for a range of different container pallets. They can be customised to specification and, besides LD and MD container pallets, they can handle other special pallet types. The fully electric drive train for the Pulsar 7 E with electric hub motors sets a new standard, easily handling 7t of cargo, LD and MD container pallets as well as special sized pallets up to 5,640mm and loads/unloads from both sides. Compared with the operating costs of a diesel vehicles, the Pulsar 7 E is more economical. The airport industry will take years to recover from Covid-19. The development of future-oriented technologies in vehicles must be driven forward to find answers to important questions, such as energy efficiency, reliable performance and sustainability. MULAG will face these challenges and continue producing high-quality vehicles that are undeniably ‘Made in Germany’. ●
