Company insight
Within the range of 60m to 2,500m, each HE-AirBurst round is optimised to provide 125m² of lethal fragments against troops in open field or behind obstacles. With a calibrated payload of tungsten pellets, KE-AirBurst can address loitering munitions, drones, helicopters and other air targets up to 4km, as well as antennas and optics on the ground, blinding the enemy. This combination provides enhanced versatility and force protection in modern and versatile battlefield engagements.
What would you say are the key advantages and unique features that set the 40CTAS apart from traditional medium-calibre weapon systems? With its significantly enhanced lethality and high accuracy at very long range, the 40CTAS provides stand-off to the enemy, especially with the armour- piercing round against any IFV at 3km. This allows forces to engage threats from significantly greater distances, improving survivability, while minimising
exposure to direct enemy fire, reinforcing battlefield advantage. One of the unique features is the ability to select the right ammo against a threat; for example, to have more than two different natures in the AHS at the same time.
How does the 40CTAS meet the needs of users, and what advantages does it offer on the battlefield?
For gunners and vehicle crews, the 40CTAS ensures accurate shots on the move, reducing engagement time and improving first-hit probability. Moreover, once loaded, the AHS excludes any manual intervention for ammo switching, ensuring quick continuous tactical flexibility. Reload can be done at any time before, during or after the mission, under armour.
The high reliability of the system lowers the maintenance burden for the crew and the compactness of the 40CT ammunition increases the number of stowed kills into the turret, reducing frequent resupply requirements.
Is the 40CTAS system fully mature and ready for moving into service? The 40CT ammunition has been Nato-certified (AEP 4749), ensuring interoperability across allied forces. This certification confirms its readiness for modern battlefields, supporting joint operations and coalition warfare. Coming into service with the British Army and French Army, the 40CTAS is integrated into Jaguar and Ajax reconnaissance vehicles, while expanding into naval applications, such as the RAPIDFire system for the French Navy. The 40CTAS stands as a fully matured solution, ready for broader operational use. It is more than just a technological advancement or a larger calibre. It is a battlefield game-changer, designed to outperform traditional medium-calibre weapons in multi-domain combat. For forces seeking the ultimate edge in firepower and strategic superiority, the 40CTAS is the solution that transforms capability into battlefield advantage. ●
