Safe and effective washing with acetone
Based in north east Italy, LAST Technology is a leading manufacturer of washing, disinfection, sterilisation, depyrogenation, decontamination and drying equipment for the healthcare and life sciences industries.
compounds from surfaces – metal, plastic or glass – is relatively safe compared with more hazardous solvents like methanol or ethanol.
A
Acetone therefore has several benefits: it is cost effective, low toxic, easy to obtain and water soluble. It also evaporates quickly and surfaces will dry much faster than using water alone. The mechanical action of washing with acetone is more efficacious than washing with pressurised water. In the pharma industry, this is the suitable solution for the cleaning of metal
cetone, besides being a very effective polar solvent that dissolves almost all organic
surfaces in contact with active pharmaceutical ingredients (API).
Wash with confidence LAST Technology’s cGMP UCW – ACE line takes equipment through inertisation with nitrogen, pre-washing, washing and rinsing with acetone, and compressed air drying. The washer is explosion-proof manufactured (ATEX) due to acetone’s flammability. The oxygen concentration is constantly monitored together with the pressure and temperature of the acetone throughout the cycle.
It provides an innovative centrally located sump for acetone saving and its spray balls – installed into the chamber
and across the carts – are designed for a deeper cleaning process for any type of load. It is available with chamber volumes from 350L.
Over the years, LAST Technology has improved on other equipment, including its terminal sterilisers, focusing on the rotating load system that defines them. The load rotates during the entire process – heating, sterilisation and cooling – thanks to an electromechanical device that allows the frame motion. This way there is no risk of coagulation or stratification of the product inside its container. ●
