Tackling the shortage of skilled workers can be helped, says Dieffenbacher, by simplifying the control and optimisation of production plants through digitalisation and automation. The AI-based digital platform EVORIS intelligently supports plant personnel in their daily tasks, while the MAIER Knife Ring Maintenance Centre sharpens knife rings fully automatically. Cost pressures can be alleviated by AI/ digitalisation, with EVORIS designed to reduce production costs, while other solutions to reduce energy and raw material consumption/costs include the new Forming Station PB, the EVOjet M 2.0, the EVOscreen and the new Wireless STS storage system. Dieffenbacher Energy presented its bubbling fluidised-bed firing systems for generating energy from low-cost and sustainable refuse-derived fuels (RDF), while the new belt dryer is also a good example of low-energy-consumption solutions. In addition to these solutions, visitors
to LIGNA had a first glimpse of its new customer portal, an advanced solution to support their daily processes. Sunds Fibertech is a company that has been growing rapidly in recent years through acquisition and organic growth. Its focus is on improving production lines. Sunds Fibertech is expanding its robust portfolio of emission control solutions, with a strong focus on the panelboard and broader process industries. At LIGNA it unveiled two strategic acquisitions to improve its capabilities in environmental technology: LÜBKE GmbH of Germany and Advanced Cyclone Systems (ACS) of Portugal. LÜBKE GmbH operates in air quality and emission control, while ACS is a specialist in high-efficiency cyclone systems, expanding Sunds’ reach in Europe and South America and bringing patented particle separation technologies to the portfolio. The acquisitions mark a major step
forward in Sunds being able to deliver a wider range of solutions to the panelboard and process industries. Director Lars Eklund told WBPI that Sunds has experienced a doubling of turnover in the past two years to €50m today, with a target of €100m by 2028. A plan of completing two acquisitions per year is intended to help in reaching this target. The acquisition of the KüstersPress
and ContiPress service business from Siempelkamp in 2023 added €10m of turnover.
