experience and thus creating the basis for sustainable growth. We’re aligning ourselves in a clearer, more modern and more attractive way for customers, partners and new talents.” Siempelkamp’s stand highlighted its digitalisation/AI competencies and recycling. It is offering new recycling concepts for both particleboard and MDF production. Siempelkamp’s new drying process aims to return fibre-based materials in any form, gluing and finishing – for example, from flooring, kitchen fronts and back panels – to the process. It says it has also taken the next step with its cleaning plant for particleboard production by tailoring services to customers’ needs in 2025 with standardised modules. Siempelkamp’s recycling concept was brought to life at LIGNA 2025 with its recycling tower symbolically representing a recycling plant and visitors using augmented reality glasses to tour and explore the plant. The iQ digitalisation platform was a big hub on stand, visitors seeing a network, digital concept that intelligently links machine control with services. Siempelkamp presents this as an almost autonomous production of wood-based panels. Stainless steel wide belt sanding specialist
IPCO included its life-sized interactive moose on its stand, providing a fun element in Hall 26. IPCO’s two technical highlights were the ProRelease System (see p48) – debuting at LIGNA – which features a new process for
delivering release agent to steel press belts, resulting, IPCO says, in a 90% reduction in release agent consumption, increased press productivity and improved panel quality. Shotpeener Pro, a tool for restoring deformed press belts, and QuickDisc Plus 500 for replacing damaged belt sections, were also highlighted by IPCO. IMA Schelling was represented both in Hall 26 (board division) and at a main stand in Hall 12, where the company highlighted the 10th anniversary. WBPI interviewed Stefan Hinterholzer, head of the business unit Board, who will be managing a handover of his role to Sebastian Lutz in 2026. Mr Hinterholzer reported a big project for
Egger, comprising a line for decorative panels and a co-operation for a high bay storage warehouse. “We are shifting away from the core business, which is cut-to-size. That business is stagnating. We are spreading our wings in other directions.”
This includes the handling and logistics side of things, with a focus on large integrated lines. IMA Schelling is also targeting south-east Asian markets. “The level of enquiries has increased in recent months. We have received some very reasonable orders. The market seems to be getting better.”
IMA Schelling is also actively promoting its cross-group software Aimi – which enables all machines and systems to be integrated into the individual customer environment and operated in a standardised and intuitive
way. Aimi is starting to be implemented in several significant installations with big customers. Wemhöner, which manufactures plants for the finishing of wood-based materials, was celebrating 100 years in business at the LIGNA 2025, and its attendance had followed a series of events in Germany to mark the landmark (see pp42-43). Industrial short cycle press systems are a central competency of Wemhöner’s focus. The company has further developed its 3D VARIOPRESS for the production of furniture fronts and components based on thermoplastic foils. Wemhöner also engaged visitors about its lacquering lines, HotCoating systems and interactive software and hardware solutions. Main plant supplier Dieffenbacher had probably the largest stand in Hall 26. A press conference attended by WBPI updated journalists on the Group’s progress (see p44). Dieffenbacher used LIGNA to show
how it could help bring solutions to major challenges in the wood-based panels industry – raw material availability, shortage of skilled workers, cost pressure and energy supply. The company introduced its Fiber2Fiber process for recycling MDF, HDF, THDF and wood fibre insulation boards, including post- consumer waste material. The technology was developed as part of the EU-funded research project EcoReFibre. Other recycling plant solutions were demonstrated for particleboard production
