MARCH 2025 Ӏ JOB OF THE MONTH
FLEXIBLE FRIEND
Krandienst Schulz’s new eight-axle LTM 1450-8.1 dismantles a tall tower crane at power plant construction site.
Northern Germany-based crane rental service specialist Krandienst Schulz used its new Liebherr LTM 1450-8.1 all terrain crane for the dismantling of a 70-metre-tall tower crane used in the construction of a new waste- to-energy plant. “The onboard telescopic boom, with a length of 85 metres, means the setup and deployment times are very short,” says Markus Solms, technical field sales at Krandienst Schulz. “In around three hours we were ready to go again for the dismantling of the next crane. “What's more, the crane is so
powerful it can, in some places, achieve the lifting capacities of our LTM 1500-8.1. And because, thanks to VarioBallast, the minimum radius can be set to five metres, and therefore less than that of the 300-tonner, we’ve been able to use the new crane very effectively on several occasions in the centre of Hamburg – even when space has been really tight. “Coupled with the advantages of the adjustable VarioBase support, the appliance is already really flexible.” So far the Liebherr crane, which was delivered in 2024, has also been used for a number of construction crane assembly projects.
