PREVIEW | BTS DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION COURSE

BTS DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION COURSE 2026

The British Tunnelling Society (BTS) offers its flagship 1-week intensive education course

for tunnellers this Summer, in early July. The Design and Construction course is world leading and highly recommended to young and aspiring tunnellers from the UK and internationally.

The British Tunnelling Society’s Design and Construction Course will run from 6-10 July 2026 at the University of Warwick, in England. Registration details must be completed online

and may be found on the BTS website (https:// britishtunnelling.com) by following the link from the Education & Training/Training Courses pages. There you will find all the information, including the rates for attendance and a provisional course programme. Let’s start with a summary of some of the feedback

from the 2025 cohort: “It was a great experience. The course was very well

structured, covering a broad range of topics relevant to its central theme. Each lecture was thoughtfully delivered, and the presenters shared valuable technical insights that significantly contributed to our knowledge and understanding of tunnel design and construction.” “I found the agenda very well organised and it did

contain a great variety of both design and construction topics with great content.”

Mike King, of MK Tunnelling, is organiser for the BTS and provides some insight to the next course. “The guest speakers were very experienced, often

long time served professionals which I feel very privileged to have been able to listen to, sharing their wide range of knowledge.” Prior feedback also noted: “The content was very informative with valuable

insights from both contractors’ and designers’ perspectives.” We seek all feedback every year with the aim of

continuously tailoring the course to suit the needs and requirements of the delegates. We also received some valuable feedback concerning potential changes.

SEASONED SPEAKERS Lecturers on the course have previously noted that the BTS Design and Construction Course: “…is one of the finest to be found anywhere in the

profession. It provides a concentrated injection of high calibre tunnelling knowledge on a wide range of topics from world leading experts.”
