It is also planning to combine Kalmar Mobile Solutions and Kalmar Automation Solutions strategic business units to create a unified Kalmar. Michel van Roozendaal, currently
president of Kalmar Mobile Solutions, has been selected to lead the planning. “The year 2022 has started eventfully.
We refocused our strategy at the end of March. Sustainability and profitable growth remain our breakthrough objectives but, going forward, we focus on developing Hiab, Kalmar mobile equipment and straddle and shuttle carriers, as well as related services (Core businesses),” said Mika Vehviläinen, CEO, Cargotec at the time. “The decision to refocus the strategy
follows the decision of the Boards of Directors of Cargotec and Konecranes to cancel the planned merger after the negative resolution of the UK Competition & Markets Authority. “Along with the strategy refocus, we announced our plans to exit Kalmar’s heavy port cranes business, and started an evaluation of strategic options of MacGregor.” He added, Hiab and refocused

Automation Solutions, has decided to retire on July 1, 2022. Following Kaunonen’s retirement, van Roozendaal will assume his responsibilities. Van Roozendaal will also continue in his current role and report to president and CEO Mika Vehviläinen. “I’m confident that Michel with
his broad industry and leadership knowledge is the right person to lead Kalmar to its next development phase. He joined Cargotec in 2015 and has been heading first MacGregor and more recently Kalmar Mobile Solutions
while delivering continuous business results. I also want to thank Antti for his contribution for Kalmar over the past seven years. “Under his leadership, Kalmar has
taken major steps in electrification, automation and digitalisation,” added Vehviläinen.
